Port of The Americas Project is a Port of The Americas Authority project at an approximate cost of $210 million. The Port of the Americas construction project was divided into four main phases which will add an additional 3,000 feet (910 m) of quay side to the Port of Ponce, dredge the existing port entrance and nearby bay to a depth of 50 feet (15 m), and develop adjacent lots into new container yards.​ The PIM works concentrated on provide services of Quality Control Independent Laboratory for testing of embankments, surcharges, aggregate courses, asphalt layers, concrete runway pavements and other miscellaneous concrete works.

PIM is a multi-disciplinary, engineering consulting and testing firm with facilities in Carolina, Ponce and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. PIM employ four (4) Professional Engineers and fifteen (15) engineering assistants, technicians, drillers and administrative personnel.

PIM commitment to quality is evidenced by the accreditations and validations achieved for construction material testing. These distinctions include:

  • PIM is accredited by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
  • PIM is the only public and/or private laboratory in Puerto Rico accredited for ASTM D-3666, Standard Specification for Minimum Requirements for Agencies Testing and Inspecting Road and Paving Materials, which is required by the Federal Aviation​ Administration (FAA) for funding airport construction projects.
  • PIM accounts with specialized concrete testing equipment for the assessment of corrosion effects, chloride and sulfate attack, alkali-silica reaction in aggregates, concrete cover,​ rebar locator and other non-destructive testing capabilities.

To achieve the above accreditations their facilities, equipment, procedures, and personnel qualifications are reviewed by external auditors on a yearly basis. In addition, PIM participates in soil/materials proficiency testing programs which are sponsored by the AASHTO and the Concrete and Cement Reference Laboratory (CCRL).

Luis Muñoz Marín Internacional Airport's  Project is a Puerto Rico Port Authority project at an approximate cost of $125 million. The project scope was the improvement, extension and reconstruction of: runways and taxiways, construction of service roads and safety areas, resurfacing of all runways and taxiways, storm sewer and electrical/illumination repairs. The PIM works concentrated on provide services of Quality Assurance Independent Laboratory for testing of embankments, surcharges, aggregate courses, asphalt layers, concrete runway pavements and other miscellaneous concrete works.

​​Soil Pressure Distribution Analysis

Portugués River Dam Project is a US ARMY Corps of Engineers project at an approximate cost of $180 million. The Portugués Dam will be a 220 feet (67 m) high and 1,230 feet (370 m) long single-centered roller-compacted concrete thick arch. Containing 367,000 cubic yards (281,000 m3) of roller-compacted concrete, it will be 110 feet (34 m) thick at its base and 35 feet (11 m) thick at its crest. The center of the dam will straddler an intake and outlet structure which will draw water from behind the dam and discharge it into the river valley. The PIM works concentrated on provide services of Quality Assurance Independent Laboratory for testing of embankments, surcharges, Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC), aggregate courses, asphalt layers, concrete pavements and other miscellaneous concrete works.
